PUERTO RICO - Augustana finished its four-match trip to Puerto Rico with their third-straight win, taking down Division III University of Massachusetts, Boston by a score of 9-0 on Wednesday. The Vikings only allowed the Beacons to take four games, while five matches were in straight-sets.
Augustana improved their season record to 12-2, while UMass Boston falls to 3-12 on the year.
The Vikings opened the match winning all six singles contests, with most in commanding fashion.
Sydney Postal moved up one spot in singles play cruising in a straight-set victory 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 1 singles and
Berkley Darr made a seamless transition at the No. 2 sinlges spot with a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
Jenna Helleberg quickly answered with a dominating 6-0, 6-0 straight-set win at the third-flight singles spot.
Heather Sullivan rolled at the No. 4 singles match, winning 6-0, 6-0 while
Kaitlyn Motley came on top with a 6-1, 6-0 win for Augustana's No. 5 singles player. Freshman
Katie McLaughlin took control of the No. 6 singles spot with a powerful 6-0, 6-1 win.
Jessa Richards and Postal wasted no time in the top doubles match, winning 8-0. The No. 2 Viking tandem of Sullivan and Helleberg notched an 8-1 victory and Augustana's No. 3 duo Darr and Motley won by a shutout score of 8-0.
The Vikings will hit the road for a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matches on March 28 and 29 against Winona State and Upper Iowa, respectively.
