Men's golf places fifth at NSIC Championship

ASHLAND, Neb. – The Augustana men's golf season came to a close on Sunday after a final-round score of 307 at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Men's Golf Championship.

The Vikings finished fifth in the 10-team field, 11 shots behind tournament champion Minnesota State, who shot a 295 at Quarry Oaks Golf Course in the final round to claim the top spot from St. Cloud State.

Winona State's Mitch Holm took home individual medalist honors with an eight-over-par 292 for the 72 holes (71-72-74-75), one shot ahead of Minot State's Kowan O'Keefe.

Tyler Jensvold tied for fourth place after firing a 75 on the last day of competition, bringing his four-round total to 297 (70-73-79-75), 13 over par.

Parker Klitzke tied for sixth with a final score of 298 (73-71-79-75). For Klitzke, the top-10 finish makes it the sixth time this year the freshman has recorded the feat, most on the team.

Clay Kopplin closed out his final tournament in a tie for 17th after posting an eight-over-par 79 on Sunday, bringing his tournament total to 305 (75-72-79-79).

With a final-round score of 81, senior Drew Trautman finished tied for 29th with a 28-over-par 312 in four rounds of play at the tournament.

Ted Urch shot a seven-over-par 78 for his final 18 holes in the tournament.

Augustana will return to the course in the fall for the 2015-16 season.
