No. 12 Augustana set for three doubleheaders this week, starting at SMSU on Tuesday

The Vikings will host Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State on Saturday and Sunday

Storylines
• No. 12 Augustana softball will take its 20-game winning streak on the road on Tuesday, April 14, for a doubleheader at Southwest Minnesota State University (20-18, 9-7 NSIC). 
• First pitch between the Vikings and Mustangs is set for 2 p.m. at Mustang Field in Marshall, Minn. 
• Augustana enters this week at 37-5 on the season, including 18-0 in NSIC play. 
• The Vikings are the only unbeaten team in conference play. 
• After Tuesday's game, the Vikings return home to host Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State on Saturday and Sunday. 
• Augustana and Minnesota Duluth (24-17, 8-10 NSIC) will get underway at noon on Saturday, April 18 at Bowden Field. 
• First pitch between Augustana and St. Cloud State (22-20, 8-10 NSIC) is set for noon on Sunday.

• Senior Jenelle Trautmann leads all players in the NSIC with 19 home runs this season. 
• Trautmann, Augustana's all-time leader in home runs, has now hit 74 in her career which ranks third all-time in NCAA Division II history. 
• Trautmann is now just one home run shy of moving into a tie for second all-time. 
• Kutztown's Steph Denlinger (2006-09) is the NCAA Division II leader in career home runs with 79.
• Trautmann currently ranks 11th all-time in NCAA history (all divisions) in career home runs.
• With a three-run home run against Upper Iowa on March 31, Trautmann became just the fourth non-Division I player in NCAA history to hit 70-plus career home runs.  
• Trautmann is one of three active players chasing the NCAA home run record, including Courtney Albritton of Valdosta State (Division II) and Lauren Chamberlain of Oklahoma (Division I).

National news
• Augustana is ranked 12th in the NFCA Top 25 Poll.
• The Vikings spent the two previous weeks at No. 18.
• Augustana opened the season ranked 14th in the Preseason NFCA Top 25 Poll.
• Augustana spent 13 weeks in the NFCA Top 25 in 2014, being ranked as high as fifth for three straight weeks. 
• The Vikings were ranked 15th in the final NFCA Top 25 Poll in 2014.

The 20-game win streak
• Augustana is currently riding a 20-game win streak heading into this week's games. 
• This marks the fifth time Augustana softball has won 20 straight games during a season, and the first since winning 20 straight during the 1999 season. 
• Augustana won 20 straight games in 1999, 22 straight in 1991 and a program-high 27 straight in 1994.
• During the 20-game win streak, the Vikings have hit .399 as a team with 42 doubles and 35 home runs. 
• Augustana has out-scored its opponents 168-30 and has allowed just 16 extra-base hits during the streak. 

Augustana in NSIC Statistics
• Augustana ranks high in multiple team and individual categories in the NSIC. 
• Augustana leads all NSIC teams in batting average (.353), slugging percentage (.582) and on-base percentage (.462). 
• The Vikings also lead the NSIC in runs scored (303), hits (403), RBI (284), doubles (75) and home runs (61).
• Augustana ranks second with a team 2.21 ERA, third in opponent batting average (.230).
• Augustana leads the NSIC in batters struck out (328) and saves (5). 
Sarah Kennedy leads the NSIC in batting average (.542), hits (78) and doubles (20).
• Kennedy ranks second in the conference with 54 RBI, a .944 slugging percentage, a .564 on-base percentage.
Jenelle Trautmann leads the NSIC with 19 home runs and 61 RBI.
• Trautmann also leads the NSIC with a 1.081 slugging percentage and a .616 on-base percentage. 
• Trautmann ranks third in the NSIC with a 2.03 ERA and third in opposing batting average (.212). 
• Trautmann has struck out 204 batters, ranking second in the NSIC. 
• Trautmann leads all pitchers in the NSIC with 22 wins.
Caitlin Nichol ranks third in the NSIC in batting average (.489), slugging percentage (.852), on-base percentage (.562) and second with 13 home runs.  

NSIC Player of the Week
Jenelle Trautmann was named the NSIC's player of the week for the third time this season on April 13. 
• Trautmann batted .737 with 14 hits, including three doubles and four home runs, compiling a 1.526 slugging percentage. 
Jenelle Trautmann was named the NSIC's pitcher of the week on March 31 and April 6 of this season, earning the honor back-to-back weeks. 
• Trautmann has been named the NSIC's Pitcher of the Week twice this season and five times in her career. 
• She has been named the NSIC's Player of the Week three times in her career, all this season.
• Sophomore shortstop Sarah Kennedy was named the NSIC's Player of the Week on March 31. 

Scouting the competition
Southwest Minnesota State

• Southwest Minnesota State enters the week with a record of 20-18 on the season, including 9-7 in NSIC play. 
• The Mustangs have won six of their last 10 games, including three straight. 
• SMSU swept St. Cloud State on Sunday after splitting at Minnesota Duluth last Saturday. 
• SMSU is batting .285 as a team and has hit 48 doubles, seven triples and eight home runs this season. 
• Jazmyne Neely leads SMSU batting .342 with 40 hits, including six doubles and a home run.
• SMSU has five batters batting over .300, including Madisson Chadwick who has five doubles, one triple, one home run and a team-high 27 RBI.
• Alex O'Connor leads SMSU's pitching staff with a 14-10 record and a 3.28 ERA on the season. 
• O'Connor has struck out 101 batters in 151.2 innings this season. 
• Jaime Dunn is in her second season as the head coach at SMSU. She owns a career record of 35-48-1.

Minnesota Duluth
• Minnesota Duluth enters the week with a record of 24-17, including 8-10 in the NSIC. 
• The Bulldogs split a pair of doubleheaders at home last weekend, splitting with SMSU and USF. 
• Minnesota Duluth will take on Minnesota Crookston on Tuesday in Crookston, Minn. 
• The Bulldogs are batting .309 as a team with 53 doubles, six triples and 37 home runs on the season. 
• Hannah Schmoll leads the team with a .400 batting average and has hit four doubles, two triples and one home run. 
• Becky Smith has a team-high 17 doubles, 10 home runs and 45 RBI on the season and is batting .385. 
• Cayli Sadler leads the Bulldog pitching staff with a 2.90 ERA and a 13-9 record. 
• Sadler has struck out 111 batters in 142.1 innings of work for UMD.
• Jen Banford is in her 10th season as the head coach at UMD. She owns a career record of 297-191.

St. Cloud State
• St. Cloud State brings a 22-20 record into this week, including an 8-10 mark in NSIC play. 
• The Huskies lost three of four home games last weekend, splitting with USF before losing twice to SMSU on Sunday.
• SCSU is batting .299 as a team with 49 doubles, 13 triples and 19 home runs. 
• Jessica Goerger leads the team with a .385 batting average and 12 doubles to go with four triples, five home runs and 26 RBI.
• Kelly Franks owns a 9-4 record in the circle to go with a 2.64 ERA. She has struck out 135 batters in 100.2 innings.
• Paula U'Ren is in her 18th season as the head coach at St. Cloud State. She owns a career record of 581-390.

One streak ends, another starts
• Sophomore shortstop Sarah Kennedy is currently riding a career-long 23-game hitting streak.  
• Kennedy had a 23-game hitting streak come to an end in the first game of the Missouri Western Tournament on March 20. 
• Kennedy ended the 2014 season on a five-game hitting streak and had a hit in the first 18 games of the season in 2015. 
• Kennedy has a hit in 41 of 42 games this season. 
• Kennedy has reached base safely in all 42 games this season. 
• Kennedy enters the week leading the NSIC with a .542 batting average on the season.
• Kennedy also leads the NSIC and the NCAA with 20 doubles. 
• Kennedy also leads the NSIC with 78 hits on the season.
• She ranks second in the NSIC with 54 runs batted in. 
• Kennedy has two or more hits in 28 games this season and has driven in two or more runs in 17 games.

The pitching staff
Jenelle Trautmann leads the Vikings pitching staff with a record of 22-1 on the season. 
• Trautmann leads all pitchers in the NSIC and ranks 19th in the country with 22 wins. 
• Trautmann has compiled a 2.03 ERA in 22 starts and 30 appearances. 
• Trautmann has struck out a team-high 204 batters in 141.1 innings of work. 
• Trautmann went 3-0 last week, striking out 25 batters in 15 innings pitched. 
• She held opponents to a .173 batting average and allowed just nine hits. 
• Trautmann has struck out a season-high 14 batters in two games this season. 
Carley Pickett owns an 11-3 record on the season in 27 appearances (16 starts).
• She leads the NSIC and ranks eighth in the country with four saves on the year.
• Pickett led all of NCAA Division II in saves in 2014 with nine.
• Pickett has tossed two complete games and is holding batters to a .253 batting average. 
• She has struck out 94 batters in 88 innings pitched. 
Karlee Koopman owns a 4-1 record and a 1.94 ERA on the season in the circle for the Vikings. 
• Koopman has four starts in 22 appearances and has struck out 30 batters in 39.2 innings of work. 
• Augustana's pitching staff owns a combined ERA of 2.21 and has struck out 328 batters in 269 innings.

Setting the table
• Senior third baseman Caitlin Nichol is batting .489 out of the leadoff spot for the Vikings this season. 
• She has 66 hits in 135 at-bats, including 10 doubles and 13 home runs. 
• She has been hit by a pitch a team-high 10 times and ranks second with 15 walks. 
• She owns a .562 on-base percentage, which ranks third in the NSIC behind Sarah Kennedy and Jenelle Trautmann.
• Nichol has scored a team-high 62 runs on the season, which leads all players in the NSIC. 
• During Augustana's 20-game winning streak, Nichol is batting .554 with eight doubles and nine home runs. 
• She has compiled a 1.092 slugging percentage, a .618 on-base percentage and has scored a team-high 38 runs over the last 20 games. 

Loved by Augie, feared by all
• Senior Jenelle Trautmann is batting .495 on the season with 55 hits in 111 at-bats. 
• Trautmann has eight doubles and a league-high 19 home runs on the season.
• She tied her own single season record with her 19th home run of the season in game two against Bemidji State last weekend.  
• Trautmann also leads the NSIC with a career-high 61 RBI on the season. 
• Trautmann has been walked a league-high 31 times.
• Trautmann was intentionally walked four times in game one of a doubleheader at Northern State last Friday. 
• Trautmann tied her own single-game record for intentional walks. 
• She was intentionally walked four times against Concordia-St. Paul on April 18 of last season, after hitting three home runs against the Golden Bears in the first game of the doubleheader. 
• In six games last week, Trautmann batted .737 with three doubles and four home runs while driving in 14. 
• She became Augustana's all-time leader in RBI last weekend and has now driven in 226 career runs.
