MINNETONKA, Minn. – No. 1 seed Augustana women's tennis defeated No. 8 seed Winona State 6-0 in the first round of the NSIC/US Bank Women's Tennis Tournament and advances to the semifinals where it will play the winner of Minnesota State and Sioux Falls on Sunday.
 
Augustana swept the doubles matches and won all three singles flights to advance.
 
No. 1 and No. 2 doubles saw two highly entertaining matches as the Vikings were able to win both 8-4. Augustana's No. 1 doubles tandem of Jessa Richards and Sydney Postal defeated Winona State's Brianna Havelka and Justine Daane. No. 2 doubles partners Berkley Darr and Heather Sullivan defeated Katie Scruggs and Leah Dahl.
 
Jenna Helleberg and Meredith Lawrence swept at No. 3 doubles defeating Ellyn Grossen and Lauren Willkom 8-0.
 
Jessa Richards made quick work of Brianna Havelka at No. 1 single with a 6-1, 6-0 win. Sydney Postal and Meredith Lawrence did the same at No. 2 and No. 6 singles both posing wins of 6-0, 6-0.
 
Augustana will play either Minnesota State or USF at 8 a.m. on Sunday at Lifetime Fitness Oakdale in Minnetonka, Minn.
