MINNETONKA, Minn. – No. 1 seed Augustana women's tennis punched its ticket to the championship match with a 5-0 win over No. 4 seed Minnesota State in the semifinals. The Vikings will be playing for their fifth consecutive NSIC Tournament Championship taking on Upper Iowa.
Augustana swept doubles play and won at No. 2 and No. 6 doubles for the 5-0 victory.
Jessa Richards and
Sydney Postal took down Killian Doran and Sarah McCann at No. 1 doubles by a score of 8-2.
Berkley Darr and
Heather Sullivan defeated Melissa Mashburn and Destiny Lee 8-3 at No. 2 doubles.
Jenna Helleberg and
Meredith Lawrence made it a clean sweep in doubles play with an 8-3 win over Lisa Dobbelaere and Andrea Erdman at No. 3 doubles.
Meredith Lawrence defeated Andrea Erdman at No. 6 singles for the first of two singles victories for the Vikings. Lawrence won in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.
Sydney Postal accounted for the fifth and final team point with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Melissa Washburn at No. 2 singles.
Augustana is currently taking on No. 2 seed Upper Iowa in the NSIC/US Bank Tournament Championship at Lifetime Fitness Oakdale in Minnetonka, Minn.
