Augustana is making its 23rd NCAA Tournament appearance, sixth straight

Storylines
• No. 9 Augustana softball (50-9) enters the NCAA Tournament as the host and No. 1 seed of the Central Region 1 Tournament. 
• The Vikings will take on No. 8 seed East Central University (32-14) at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 8 at Bowden Field. 
• Joining Augustana and East Central at the Central Region 1 Tournament will be No. 4 seed Central Oklahoma (40-18) and No. 5 seed Winona State (46-12).
• Central Oklahoma and Winona State will play at 1 p.m. on Friday.
• All games of the Central Region 1 Tournament will be played at Bowden Field. 
• The winner of the Central Region 1 Tournament will play the winner of the Central Region 2 Tournament in the Central Super Regional final. 
• Augustana is making its 23rd NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. 
• Augustana has made six consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament since 2010.
• Augustana has won one National Championship in program history, taking the national crown in 1991.
• The Vikings won their third Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Regular Season Championship in 2015.

• Senior Jenelle Trautmann ranks second on the team and in the NSIC with 20 home runs in 2015. 
• Trautmann, Augustana's all-time leader in home runs, has now hit 75 in her career which ranks second all-time in NCAA Division II history. 
• Trautmann is now just four home runs shy of the NCAA Division II all-time record. 
• Kutztown's Steph Denlinger (2006-09) is the NCAA Division II leader in career home runs with 79.
• Trautmann currently ranks 11th all-time in NCAA history (all divisions) in career home runs.
• With a three-run home run against Upper Iowa on March 31, Trautmann became just the fourth non-Division I player in NCAA history to hit 70-plus career home runs.  
• Trautmann is one of eight   active players chasing the NCAA home run record, including Lauren Chamberlain of Oklahoma, who recently set the all-time NCAA record with her 91st career home run. 
• Oklahoma's Shelby Pendley ranks sixth all-time in NCAA history with 84 home runs, Valdosta State's Courtney Albritton and Trautmann are tied for second in Division II and 11th overall with 75 career home runs. 

The 50-win season
• At 50-9 on the season, Augustana has secured its ninth 50-plus win season in program history. 
• Augustana has won 50-plus games three times under the direction of ninth-year head coach Gretta Melsted
• Melsted led Augustana to 50 wins in 2011 and 53 wins in 2012. 
• Melsted has led Augustana to five 40-plus win seasons and seven 30-plus win seasons. 
• Augustana won a school record 61 games after winning the National Championship in 1991. 

Augustana in NCAA Statistics
• Augustana ranks high in numerous team and individual NCAA Statistics.
• Augustana ranks 10th in the country with a team batting average of .341. 
• Augustana ranks eighth in the country averaging 1.36 home runs per game. The Vikings have hit the fifth-most total home runs in the country with 80. 
• Augustana ranks eighth in the nation in on-base percentage (.420), 10th in runs per game (6.76), sixth in slugging percentage (.551) and fifth in win/loss percentage (.847). 
Sarah Kennedy ranks second in the nation with a .495 batting average.
• Kennedy is tied with Barry's Dee Espinosa for the national lead in doubles with 25. 
• Kennedy ranks fifth in the nation with 68 RBI and 16th with 16 home runs. 
• Kennedy ranks eighth in the country with a .880 slugging percentage.
Jenelle Trautmann leads all players in NCAA Division II with 72 RBI on the season.
• Trautmann ranks fifth in the country with 20 home runs and ranks fifth with a .889 slugging percentage.
• Trautmann's 29 wins in the circle ranks fifth in the country and her 1.88 ERA ranks 51st. 
• Trautmann ranks ninth in the nation with 276 strikeouts (10.0 strikeouts per seven innings). 
Caitlin Nichol ranks second in the nation with 22 home runs on the season and is just one off the national lead.
• Nichol has hit two or more home runs in four games this season, and ranks 6th averaging .37 home runs per game. 
• Nichol ranks 31st nationally with a .446 batting average, 15th in slugging percentage (.850) and 30th in on-base percentage (.526).

Postseason awards
• Augustana's Sarah Kennedy was named the NSIC Player of the Year. 
Jenelle Trautmann was named the NSIC's Pitcher of the Year.
Sarah Kennedy, Jenelle Trautmann and Caitlin Nichol were named All-NSIC First Team. 
Carly Peterson and Carley Pickett each earned All-NSIC Second Team honors. 
Caitlin Nichol, Carley Pickett and Sarah Kennedy were all named to the NSIC All-Tournament team. 

Kennedy sets single season doubles record
• Sophomore shortstop Sarah Kennedy set the single season record at Augustana with her 24th double of the year at Minnesota State on April 25. 
• Kennedy broke the single season record of 23 which was set by Jenny Hill in 2000. 
• Jenny Hill currently holds the Augustana and the all-time NCAA Division II record with 87 career doubles. 
• Hill, the four-time All-America selection at Augustana and former head coach, hit 23 doubles in 2000, 22 in 2001 and 21 in 1999 and 1998. 
• Kennedy has 25 doubles on the season and is tied for the national lead with Barry University's Dee Espinoza. 

One streak ends, another starts
Sarah Kennedy had a career-long 24-game hitting streak come to an end in a loss at Southwest Minnesota State on April 14. 
• Kennedy had a 23-game hitting streak hitting streak earlier in the season.
• Kennedy ended the 2014 season on a five-game hitting streak and had a hit in the first 18 games of the season in 2015. 
• Kennedy has a hit in 56 of 59 games this season. 
• Kennedy has reached base safely in all 59 games this season. 
• Kennedy enters the week ranking second in the nation with a .495 batting average.
• Kennedy also leads shares the national lead with 25 doubles on the season. 
• Kennedy leads the team with 99 hits on the season and is nine away from the single season record at Augustana. 
• She ranks second on the team with 68 RBI and 63 runs scored. 
• Kennedy is six RBI shy of the single season record of 74 set by Jenny Hill in 2001.
• Kennedy has two or more hits in 33 games this season and has driven in two or more runs in 21 games. 

The pitching staff
Jenelle Trautmann leads the Vikings pitching staff with a record of 29-3 on the season. 
• Trautmann ranks fifth in the nation with 29 wins on the year. 
• Trautmann has compiled a 1.88 ERA in 31 starts and 40 appearances. 
• Trautmann has struck out a team-high 276 batters in 194.0 innings of work. 
Carley Pickett owns an 17-4 record on the season in 36 appearances (23 starts).
• She leads the team and led all players in the NSIC with four saves. 
• Pickett led all of NCAA Division II in saves in 2014 with nine.
• Pickett has tossed six complete games and is holding batters to a .258 batting average. 
• She has struck out 131 batters in 135.1 innings pitched. 
Karlee Koopman owns a 4-2 record and a 1.90 ERA on the season in the circle for the Vikings. 
• Koopman has five starts in 28 appearances and has struck out 35 batters in 51.2 innings of work. 
• Augustana's pitching staff owns a combined ERA of 1.97 and has struck out 442 batters in 381 innings.

Augustana strikeout record
• Senior right-handed pitcher Jenelle Trautmann became Augustana's all-time leader in batters struck out this season. 
• Trautmann has struck out a single season record 276 batters in 2015 and is the all-time leader with 782 career strikeouts. 
• Trautmann passed Katie Krauth who struck out 752 batters from 2003-2006 in 625 innings pitched. 
• Krauth holds the school record striking out 8.42 batters per seven innings. 
• Trautmann ranks second all-time at Augustana striking out 7.40 batters per game in 739.1 innings pitched. 

Nichol sets the table and single season home run record 
• Senior third baseman Caitlin Nichol is batting .446 out of the leadoff spot for the Vikings this season. 
• She has 86 hits in 193 at-bats, including 12 doubles and a career-high 22 home runs. 
• Nichol holds the single season home run record with 22 on the season, which currently ranks second in the nation. 
• Nichol tied a single game record at Augustana hitting three home runs at Concordia-St. Paul on April 26.
• In just two seasons at Augustana, Nichol has hit 36 home runs which ranks her third all-time in program history.
• She has been hit by a pitch a team-high 13 times and ranks second with 22 walks. 
• She owns a .526 on-base percentage and an .850 slugging percentage in 2015. 
• Nichol has scored a team-high and single season record 82 runs this year.
• Nichol has two or more hits in 26 games and two or more RBI in 13 games this season.  

Loved by Augie, feared by all
• Senior Jenelle Trautmann is batting .431 on the season with 66 hits in 153 at-bats. 
• Trautmann has 10 doubles and a career-high 20 home runs on the season.
• Trautmann leads all of NCAA Division II with 72 RBI on the year. 
• Trautmann is three RBI shy of passing the single season record of 74 set by Jenny Hill in 2001.
• Trautmann has been walked 47 times this season, which leads the team and led all players in the NSIC. 
• Trautmann was walked six times in a doubleheader against Minnesota Duluth on Saturday, April 18. 
• Trautmann was intentionally walked four times in a game against Northern State on April 3, tying her own single-game record for intentional walks. 
• Trautmann is Augustana's all-time leader in RBI with 237 in her career.

Rounding out the order
Carley Pickett is batting .347 for the Vikings and is currently riding a four-game hitting streak. 
• Pickett has five doubles, one triple and four home runs on the season. 
Carly Peterson is batting .312 on the year with 54 hits, including eight doubles and five home runs. 
• Peterson has driven in 35 runs and scored 38. She owns a .445 slugging percentage. 
Jordan Schaffer is batting .307 for the Vikings with 50 hits, including 10 doubles and 53 RBI. 
Kylie Rome owns a .305 batting average with three doubles, two home runs and 18 RBI. 
Maddie Merriam is batting .236 with 11 doubles, two home runs and 24 RBI. 

About East Central
• East Central University is making its first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. 
• The Tigers enter the NCAA Central Region 1 Tournament with a record of 32-14 after winning the Great American Conference Tournament Championship last weekend. 
• East Central is batting .333 as a team this season while opponents are batting just .269 against the Tigers. 
• Taylor Davis leads East Central at the plate batting .447 with 11 doubles, three triples and four home runs. 
• Autumn Suydam is batting .441 with seven doubles, two triples and one home run. 
• Jordynn VanPelt is the team's top run-producer, batting .340 with eight doubles, one triple, 13 home runs and 57 RBI.
• Marissa Shaffer leads the East Central pitching staff with a 14-7 record and a 2.96 ERA. 
• Shaffer has struck out 79 batters in 130 innings pitched for the Tigers. 
• Lacey Paulk owns an 11-2 record and a 3.27 ERA to go along with 53 strikeouts in 87.2 innings pitched.

• UCO enters the tournament batting .333 as a team with 102 doubles, 16 triples and 58 home runs.
• Kaylee Brunson leads the team batting .388 with eight doubles and five triples and a team-high 33 stolen bases.

Jenelle Trautmann ranks second on the team with 20 home runs. 
Sarah Kennedy has hit a career-high 16 home runs in 2015, ranking third on the team.
