ST. CHARLES, Mo. - After dropping the first game of the doubleheader, Augustana used a 3-run first inning in game two to defeat Lindenwood 12-7 Saturday.
Lindenwood got on the board early scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning as an error and three straight walks would prove costly.
However the Vikings would get a run back in the top of the second. After an
Alex Fink triple to lead off the inning, Designated hitter
Alex Beals would reach base on a fielder's choice overthrow, scoring Fink. Beals later homered in the fourth to make 5-2 Lions.
The Vikings got a two-out rally started in the fifth inning after senior
Justin Warne tripled and
Patrick O'Donnell and
Jacob James eached singled. After
Patrick Fiala reached base on a walk
Alex Fink had a bases clearing double that gave the Vikings a 6-5 lead.
Lindenwood would use a three run bottom of the sixth to grab the lead for good. The Vikings would plate one more run in the top half of the eighth before Lindenwood would score the final teo runs of the game in the bottom half of the inning.

Alex Fink had a fantastic opening day for the Vikings going 2-for-3 with three RBI's. Fink gave the Vikings a 6-5 lead in the top of sixth inning after a bases clearing double. Fink also tripled in his first at-bat of the 2016 season, later scoring.

GAME TWOThe second game of the doubleheader went the way of the Vikings as they erupted for 12 runs behind
Patrick O'Donnell's four hits and three RBI's and earned an opening day victory.
O'Donnell and
Jacob James got things started for the Vikings, each earning singles before being driven in by
Alex Fink to put the Vikings up 2-0. Fink would later score as
Lucas Barry reached on a Lindenwood error.
The Vikings kept the Lions off the board for the first two innings as
Michael Letkewicz only surrendered one hit in the first two innings. Letkewicz would pitch four solid innings giving up two runs on three hits and striking out one.
After giving up a run in the third and fourth innings, Augustana again put runs in the score column in the middle innings with two runs in the top of the fourth and a game-high five runs in the fifth. Augustana's first two runs of the fifth inning came on back-to-back hit-by-pitches scoring Fink and
Alex Beals. The next two Viking runs came on heads up baserunning as they scored on back-to-back wild pitches. The final run of the inning came on a O'Donnell single as he scored
Justin Warne.
Each team would get two runs in the seventh inning, the Vikings scored coming single from T.J. Davis and a double by O'Donnell.
GAME TWO VIKING OF NOTEO'Donnell was 4-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored in the game two of the doubleheader. He had a double and a stolen base to go along with his run scored. He ended the game with a slugging percentage of 1.000 and an on-base percentage of .800. For the day O'Donnell was 6-for-10 with four RBI's
GAME TWO QUICK HITS• The Vikings scored 12 runs on 13 hits. They had at least three hits in four of the seven innings
• Augustana left six runners on-base
