SMITHVILLE, Mo. - The Augustana men's golf team entered the final day of the NSIC Championship in sixth place, but after improving by 10 strokes in the final round for a score of 303, the Vikings finish the NSIC Championship in a tie for fifth place.
The Vikings ended the four round championship at 76-over par 1,220 and shot their second best round of the tournament on Sunday. Their best round was back in the Fall when they shot a 295 in the second round.
Minnesota State took home the team title after shooting 32-over par 1,176. The Mavericks were led by overall NSIC Champion Kelton Schmitz who was 2-over par for the event.
Ted Urch was impressive in the final round improving by eight strokes to shoot a 1-over par 73. Urch ended the NSIC Championship in a tie for 12th place with a four round total of 16-over par 302.
Parker Klitzke ended the tournament in a tie for 16th after shooting a 79 in the final round. Klitzke was 18-over par with a four round total of 304 for the event.
Clay Kopplin ends his Viking career in a tie for 24th after an impressive day on the course. Kopplin shot his best round of the entire, four round event with a 1-over par 73. Kopplin ends the NSIC Championship at 22-over par 308.
Matt Drake ended his Augustana golfing career with a score of 6-over par 78 on Sunday. In two rounds Drake 8-over par with a two round total of 152.
Dakota Waverek improved by three strokes from round three to four with an 80 on Sunday. Waverek was 18-over par with a two round total of 163.
