INDIANAPOLIS – Augustana University soccer student-athlete
Meg Thacker has been awarded the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.
The one-time scholarships of $7,500 are awarded for fall, winter and spring sports. Each sports season there are 29 scholarships available for men and 29 scholarships available for women, regardless of division, for use in an accredited graduate program. The scholarships are awarded to student-athletes who excel academically and athletically and who are at least in their final year of intercollegiate athletics competition.
Thacker has compiled a 3.99 GPA as a biology major at Augustana and will attend medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center starting in the fall.
Earlier this year, the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference honored Thacker with the Myles Brand All-Academic with Distinction Award which is given to senior student-athletes who have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.75 or higher and are exhausting their eligibility and are on track to graduate.
Thacker, a native of Omaha, Nebraska, was named Academic All-NSIC in three straight seasons. She recently completed her senior season on the soccer team and helped the Vikings to their second straight NCAA Tournament appearance, including the program's first NCAA Tournament win. She started all 23 matches as a midfielder for the Vikings in 2015 and earned All-NSIC First Team honors playing 1,516 minutes and scoring one goal to go along with four assists. Thacker played in 53 games in her career, logging two goals and six assists for 10 career points.
