WATERLOO, Iowa – Augustana University men's golf shot a 63-over-par 639 (322-317) to finish fourth out of 10 teams at the Upper Iowa Spring Invite at Sunnyside Country Club on Sunday afternoon. The Vikings opened the 36-hole tournament on Saturday before play was suspended due to cold temperatures and wind.
The final 27 holes were played today. Bemidji State won the team title shooting 51-over-par 627 (319-308). BSU's Will Czeh won individual medalist honors, shooting eight-over-par 152 (80-72).
Augustana's
Clay Kopplin tied for second overall shooting a 12-over-par 156 in the two-day event. Kopplin shot a five-over-par 77 in round one before closing-out the tournament with a seven-over-par 79.
Matt Drake fired identical rounds of 79 to finish in a tie for sixth-place with seven other golfers. Drake finished at 14-over-par 158.
Parker Klitzke placed 22nd with an 18-over-par 162. Klitzke fired a 13-over-par 85 in round one but improved by eight strokes in round two firing a five-over-par 77.
Ted Urch finished in a tie for 27th shooting 23-over-par 167 (79-88) and
Dakota Waverek fired a 25-over-par 169 (85-84) to finish tied for 33rd.
Next up for the Vikings is the final two rounds of the NSIC Championships. Augustana will travel to Smithville, Mo., April 9-10 to compete in the conference championships.
