ABERDEEN, S.D. - Augustana University baseball earned a sweep of Northern State on Saturday, led by an offensive explosion. The Vikings defeated the Wolves 11-3 in game one and 12-3 in game two and extended their season long winning streak to nine games.
GAME ONEAugustana Baseball exploded for 11-runs in game one of Saturday's doubleheader to defeat Northern State 11-3 and increase their winning streak to eight games.
The Vikings struck first against Northern State in game one on Saturday. After
Patrick O'Donnell picked up the first ht of the afternoon on a single to center,
Alex Fink drove him in on a double to left field to give the Vikings an early 1-0 advantage.
After Augustana made it 2-0 in the third inning, the Vikings began to pour it on in the fourth.
Alex Beals led things off with a single and would advance to third on a double by
Ryan Menssen.
Lucas Wilber drove in Beals on a sacrifice fly to left field.
Justin Warne kept the inning alive with a double to left that scored Menssen. The final run of the inning for the Vikings was delivered by an O'Donnell single that scored Warne.
In the fifth innings the Vikings got into a quick two out hole but back-to-back Northern Stater errors that allowed Beals and Barry to reach base were rally starters. After Menssen drew a walk the Vikings had bases loaded when Wilber reached on an error that scored Barry. The Vikings lone hit of the inning was by Warne who singled to second but stayed in a run down in between second and first that allowed both Wilber and Menssen to score and make it 9-0 Augustana.
The Augustana run parade continued in the sixth inning against Northern State. With one out Fink picked up a single to left field, then advancing to third on a Fiala double.
Tyler Field singled to left center scoring both Fink and Fiala giving Augustana an 11-0 lead. The Vikings would allow one run in the bottom of the sixth and two in the seventh, but it wouldn't be enough as the Vikings earned an 11-3 victory in game one.

GAME TWOThe Vikings hot hitting continued early in game two as the Vikings erupted for three runs in the the first inning. With two outs Fink reached base via a walk and the advanced to second on a single from Fiala. After Beals reached by a walk Field reach on an error by the second baseman that scored Fink. Barry then reached on an error by the second baseman as well scoring Beals ad Fiala to make it 3-0 Vikings.
Augustana plated another run in the second inning when O'Donnell, who reached base on  single to the left side, scored off a double from Fink.
The Vikings would go scoreless for the next four innings while Northern State scored one run in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
Augustana got back on the scoreboard in the seventh when Barry hit an RBI single up the middle to score Fiala and make it 5-3.
In the eighth inning Augustana scored four runs all started by an O'Donnell single. Fink and Fiala each earned singles in the next two at-bats to get the bases loaded for the Vikings. Beals then drove in O'Donnell and Fink on a fielder's choice that was then aided with an NSU error. The final two runs of the inning came from the bat of Barry who singled to center field scoring Field and Beals.
The Vikings added insurance runs in the ninth inning on RBIs from O'Donnell and Field. Field drove in the final two runs of the game on double to left field, giving the Vikings a 12-3 victory in game two.
