Women's golf set to compete at NCAA Championships at National Championship Festival

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana University women's golf is set to make its eighth NCAA Championship appearance in program history at the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championship May 18-21 at CommonGround Golf Course in Aurora, Colorado. The 2016 Division II Women's Golf Championship will be held in conjunction with the 2016 Division II National Championships Festival.

Augustana has qualified for the NCAA Championship eight times in the last nine seasons. 
 
The National Championships Festival will be hosted by Metro State University-Denver and the Denver Sports Commission. Augustana is one of 76 qualifying teams at the Festival. National Champions will be crowned in men's and women's golf, women's lacrosse, softball and men's and women's tennis in Denver this week.
 
CommonGround Golf Course will play as a 6,468-yard, par-72 course during the 72-hole championship.
 
Augustana will be in familiar territory when it tees off at CommonGround on Wednesday. The Vikings competed in the GolfScrimmages.com Division II National Preview Sept. 28-29 and finished third at the 20-team tournament. Sophomore Sierra Langlie won the National Preview individual title shooting two-under-par 142 (73-69), including a career-low round of three-under-par 69 on day two.
 
The Vikings are coming off of back-to-back team titles entering the NCAA Championship. Augustana won its seventh straight Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship on April 24 before winning the NCAA Super Region Three Championship, marking the team's fifth overall and second straight region title.
 
Augustana shot its best round of the season at the NCAA Super Region Three Championship on May 3, firing a five-under-par 283 in the second round to take over first place. The Viking had three players shoot two-under-par in the second round to help the team to its second straight region championship.
 
Kali Trautman, a sophomore from Clear Lake, South Dakota, became just the third individual in program history to win an individual region championship. Trautman won a playoff on the third hole to claim the individual title to add to her strong second half of the year. Trautman captured individual medalist honors at the NSIC Championship on April 24, finishing the four-round tournament at 24-over-par 312 (82-78-76-76) to become the fifth straight individual from Augustana to win the NSIC title. She enters the NCAA Championship ranked fourth on the team with a 77.3 stroke average on the season and has five top-5 finishes in 2015-16.
 
Trautman and three other teammates were named to the WGCA All-Central Region team on Monday. Sierra Langlie and Marisa Toivonen earned all-region honors for the second time in their careers.
 
Langlie, a sophomore from Andover, Minnesota, has played in all 10 events this season and enters the NCAA Championship with a 76.7 stroke average on the season. She has placed in the top-10 of eight events, including four top-5 finishes and medalist honors at the National Championship Preview Sept. 28-29 at CommonGround in Aurora, Colorado. Langlie is coming off of a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Super Region Three Championship where she shot a five-over-par 221 (71-75-75) at the three-day event.
 
Toivonen leads the team with a 75.4 stroke average in 22 rounds in 2015-16. She has placed in the top-10 in nine events this season, including seven top-5 finishes and one medalist honor. Toivonen has had a strong spring season for the Vikings, finishing sixth or better in all six events, including three second-place finishes and an individual title at the Mustang Invite April 1-2, where she shot a career-low round of four-under-par 68.
 
Emily Israelson owns the second-best stroke average on the team this season, entering the NCAA Championship averaging 75.9 strokes per round. She has recorded five top-5 finishes, including two medalist honors this season. Israelson has played in all 10 events in 2015-16 and is coming off of a 24th-place finish at the NCAA Super Region Three Championship.
 
Jordan Bormann, a junior from Parkston, South Dakota, placed 23rd at the NCAA Super Region Three Championship on May 4, shooting a 13-over-par 229. Bormann fired a career-low round of two-under-par 70 in the second round at the region championship, helping Augustana to its second straight region championship. She enters the NCAA Championship with a 79.7 stroke average on the season and will be making her second straight appearance at the national tournament. Bormann has three top-10 finishes this season, including a third-place finish at the Concordia-St. Paul Invite Sept. 19-20 where she shot nine-over-par 153 (76-77).
 
All four rounds of competition will get underway with tee times starting at 9 a.m. (CT) at CommonGround Golf Course.
