BURNSVILLE, Minn. -  Augustana University track and field earned three Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference awards announce by the conference on Tuesday afternoon. Senior Bree Woelber earned the NSIC Field Athlete of the Year award, freshman Olivia Montez Brown earned the NSIC Newcomer of the Year award and head coach Tracy Hellman was named the Men's Coach of the Year.

Woelber had a magnificent season for the Vikings and was the NSIC high-point scorer  accumulating 32 points at the NSIC Championship. She became the first Augustana athlete to win this award since Runa Falch in 2011. Woelber won the heptathlon at the NSIC Multi-Events two weeks ago with a new conference record of 5111 points and setting a new school record in the process. Woelber also won the javelin at the NSIC Championship with a throw of 41.53 meters. She has provisionally qualified in the high jump, long jump, javelin, and heptathlon during the season.

Montez Brown continued her stellar freshman campaign. Montez Brown finished second in the heptathlon with a score of 4951 at the NSIC Multi-Events two weeks ago and is ranked 15th in the nation. She won the long jump with a jump of 5.76 meters at the NSIC Championship. Earlier in the season she broke the school record with a jump of 5.91 meters at the USF Invitational. Montez Brown also won NSIC Newcomer of the Year for the Indoor season as well.

Hellman earned his first Coach of the Year honor on the men's side. He guided Augustana to a second place finish at the NSIC Championship with a score of 141 points, 25.5 points behind first place Minnesota State. Hellman's athletes recorded 20 qualifying marks during the outdoor season. Hellman previously won NSIC Coach of the Year honor in the 2010 indoor season and 2011 outdoor season on the women's side.

Augustana will send five student-athletes to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Bradenton, Fla. on May 26-28.
