VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - In her first national appearance,
Ashton Massey earned All-America Second Team honors after placing 14th in the women's pentathlon on the second day of the NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.Â
A sophomore from Olivet, S.D., Massey made noise early, taking seventh among the group in the 60m hurdles while tying a personal-best time of 8.97. She went on to place 11th in the high jump with a 1.56m mark and then had a 9.41m shot put mark. In the long jump, Massey was 14th in the field with a 5.12m performance before wrapping up strong, taking sixth in the 800m in a personal-best 2:19.17. She scored a total of 3523 points, just 70 away from 13th.Â
The Vikings will now move into outdoor season, starting with a trip to St. Louis, Missouri, March 26-27 for the WashU Distance Carnival.
