WACO, Texas – Augustana University football dropped nine spots to No. 25 in this week's American Football Coaches' Association Top 25 Poll the national organization announced Monday. Augustana (3-1) has spent four straight weeks in the AFCA Top 25 Poll.
Northwest Missouri State earned all 30 first-place votes and remains the No. 1 team. Grand Valley State is ranked second, followed by West Georgia in third, Shepherd in fourth and Ashland in fifth.
Augustana is one of three NSIC teams in this week's AFCA Top 25 Poll. The Vikings will host a top-25 match-up this weekend taking on No. 12 USF. Minnesota State moved up three spots to No. 19 this week.
Augustana is 3-1 on the season and is coming off a 41-38 shootout loss at Minnesota Duluth on Saturday. The Vikings put up nearly 500 yards of offense in the loss to the Bulldogs, marking the fourth straight game of 400-plus yards of offense in 2016.
Trey Heid threw for 388 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for 87 and two scores at UMD.
Matt Heller also had a career day against the Bulldogs hauling in nine passes for a career-high 244 yards and three touchdowns.
Augustana will host USF in the annual "Key to the City" game on Saturday at Kirkeby-Over Stadium with kickoff set for 1:05 p.m.
