Mustangs Ride into K-O for Viking Days

10/12/2017 10:00:00 AM

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -–  Both the Vikings and Mustangs enter today's game with the same 2-4 overall record, and with identical 0-2 marks in NSIC South play, but both squads took slightly different paths to get those records. Each team shares a 28-20 win against Minot State and losses against St. Cloud State and Wayne State, but the Vikings beat Bemidji State and lost to MSU Moorhead, while the Mustangs lost at Bemidji State and won at MSU Moorhead. Augustana's other loss came last week at No. 5 Minnesota State, while SMSU's other loss came in a Week 5 loss at home to then No. 5 ranked Sioux Falls.

Augustana held Minnesota State to a season-low 388 yards of total offense last week in Mankato, but the Mavericks scored the first 18 points of the game, and even though the Vikings closed that gap to 11 points at halftime, they could not draw even, and eventually fell by a 42-21 score.

Next Up: Augustana remains in Sioux Falls for the second for four straight weeks on Saturday to complete their lone homestand of the season against Upper Iowa. The Vikings and Peacocks kickoff at 1 p.m. From there, the Vikings play at Sioux Falls, and then host Concordia-St. Paul before closing the season at Winona State.
