Volleyball Set for NSIC Tournament Action

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Post-season action starts Wednesday for the No. 16 Augustana volleyball team as the Vikings travel to Aberdeen, S.D. to take on No. 9 Northern State in the first round of the NSIC Tournament at 6 p.m.

Augustana (22-8, 13-7 NSIC) enters the tournament as the No. 6 seed, while the Wolves (23-5, 16-4 NSIC) hold the No. 3 seed.

The Vikings ended the regular season on a four match win streak with victories over No. 6 Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State in the season's final weekend.

Northern State concluded their regular season going 2-2. The Wolves swept both Minnesota State and Upper Iowa but dropped a five set match to No. 1 Concordia-St. Paul and was swept by No. 15 Winona State in their final regular season match.

Entering the conference tournament, junior outside hitter Courtney Place leads Augustana with 411 kills (3.77 k/s) which is the third best in the NSIC. Senior Ashley Wilson has racked up 280 kills and owns a team-leading .334 hitting percentage. Wilson's hitting percentage puts her in the top-10 in the conference.

Bailey Koch, who was just named the NSIC's Offensive Player of the Week, tallied 24 kills (2.43k/s) over the weekend while hitting .400 on Friday and .520 on Saturday. The senior from Litchfield, Minn. leads the team with 105 total blocks and is third in the conference.

Senior setter Alex Banker has dished out 1,270 assists this year and 11.55 assists per set. The 11.55 assists per set puts the Omaha, Neb. native in the top-15 nationally.

Libero Tahlyr Banks was just named the NSIC's Libero of the Year for the second consecutive season and currently has 580 digs on the season.

Northern State's Hailey Busch leads the Wolves with 319 kills, averaging 4.20 kills per set. Jaiden Langlie and Holly Vancura have 396 and 344 digs respectively.

Augustana defeated Northern State earlier this season, 3-1, and holds a 22-9-2 record all-time.
