SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Augustana University women's tennis (1-1,1-0 NSIC) team defeated Southwest Minnesota State, 9-0, in their first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference match of the 2017 season.

During Friday night's match played at GreatLIFE Woodlake Athletic Club, the Vikings came out swinging in the doubles matches. Berkley Darr and Christine Olivo defeated Gabby Tellijohn and Paige Janka 8-1 at No. 1 doubles while Taylor Jackson and Rebecca Falkner defeated Hannah Starke and Britney Thompson 8-1 at No. 2 doubles. Kaitlyn Motley and Anna Steinwand teamed up to beat Jenna Gannott and Brittany Soupir 8-3, giving the Vikings an early 3-0 lead heading into singles action.

The rest of the night went just as smooth for the Vikings, as no one dropped a set against the Mustangs.

Olivo earned her first win of the season at No. 3 singles after picking up a 6-2,6-0 win. Jackson was the second Viking to finish on Friday and earned her first career victory in the process after defeating Starke 6-0,6-1. Darr earned her first win of the season at No. 1 singles by a score of 6-3,6-1.

Falkner had a memorable collegiate debut for the Vikings at No.5 singles. Falkner defeated Gannott for her first career win without giving up a point, 6-0,6-0. Fellow freshman Steinwand also had a great collegiate debut at No. 6 singles as she picked up a 6-1,6-0 win for the Vikings.

At No. 4 singles, Motley was the final Viking to pick up a win, defeating Thompson 6-3,6-1 to complete the Vikings perfect day on the court.
