MINNEAPOLIS – The Augustana women's tennis team went three-for-three on the weekend by picking up a win on Sunday afternoon against Carleton in Minneapolis. The 5-4 victory moved the Vikings to 3-1 (2-0 NSIC) on the season.
In doubles,
Kornelia Staniszewska and
Berkley Darr moved to 3-0 as a No. 1 doubles pair with an 8-4 win. At No. 3 doubles
Meredith Lawrence and
Kaitlyn Motley also moved to 3-0 as a doubles pair with an 8-6 victory giving the Vikings the 2-1 lead after doubles play.
The Vikings and the Knights split the singles matches with Augustana edging out the 5-4 victory. At No. 1 singles Staniszewska defeated Iman Qureshi in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, moving to 3-0 on the season.
Taylor Jackson and Lawrence each pulled out tiebreaker wins to securing the win for the Vikings. Jackson, playing at No. 3 singles, took down Zoe Park, 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7). Lawrence remained unbeaten at No. 5 singles with a close win over Alana Danieu, 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (12-10).
The Vikings continue NSIC play next weekend, traveling to Bismarck, N.D. Augustana will take on MSU Moorhead on Saturday, Feb. 18 and will face off against U-Mary on Sunday, Feb. 19.
