BISMARCK, N.D. – The Augustana women's tennis team left no doubt in their pursuit of 80 straight NSIC regular season wins with a 9-0 victory over MSU Moorhead on Saturday night. The Vikings improve to 4-1 (3-0 NSIC) on the season and have yet to lose a match in NSIC play.
The Augustana men finished 1-1 in St. Peter, Minn. defeating Central College (Iowa), 8-1, and falling to Gustavus Adolphus, 9-0. The Vikings moved to 4-1 on the season.
The women's team didn't drop a set to the Dragons en route to a convincing, 9-0 win.
Kornelia Staniszewska and
Berkley Darr won 8-0 at No. 1 doubles to remain unbeaten on the season. The freshmen duo of
Taylor Jackson and
Rebecca Falkner won at No. 2 doubles and
Meredith Lawrence and
Kaitlyn Motley gave the Vikings the doubles sweep with a win at No. 3 doubles.
Staniszewska (No. 1), Darr (No. 2), Jackson (No. 3),
Christine Olivo (No. 4), Lawrence (No. 5) and Falkner (No. 6) each cruised to victories in singles play.
The men's team swept doubles against Central College and took five of the six singles matches to secure to the 8-1 victory.
Andrew Johnson,
Trae Olson, Austin Vanderweide ,
Frank Kelly and
Erik Rossing won in singles play and Zach and
Charlie Adkins,
Joe Sawatzke and
Logan Barr and Olson and
Reed Ritterbusch earned doubles victories.
The women's team wraps up the weekend against U-Mary on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Bismarck, N. D.
Next weekend, the men's team returns home to take on Morningside on Friday at 6 p.m. at the GreatLIFE Woodlake Athletic Club.
