SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana women's tennis faces a critical test to begin their week before finishing the weekend with a pair of NSIC matches. The men's tennis team returns home to face Morningside at the GreatLIFE Woodlake Athletic Club on Friday, Feb. 24 at 6 p.m.
Women's tennis will take on Southwest Baptist on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph, Mo. in a matchup with regional significance. The Vikings rank No. 3 in the Oracle/ITA D-II Central Region rankings that were released on Feb. 15 and the Bearcats come in ranked No. 2.
The Vikings will conclude the weekend in Grand Forks, N.D. going up against NSIC foes Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston. Augustana will play Bemidji State at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25 and will take on Minnesota Crookston at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26.
Augustana Women
The Vikings will bring a five-match winning streak and a record of 5-1 (4-0 NSIC) into the weekend. The Vikings have yet to drop a match in NSIC play.
Augustana is led by
Kornelia Staniszewska and
Meredith Lawrence in singles play. Staniszewska is 4-0 at No. 1 singles and Lawrence is 5-0 between No. 4 and No. 5 singles.
In doubles, Staniszewska and
Berkley Darr are 4-0 at No. 1 doubles and Lawrence and
Kaitlyn Motley are 5-0 from the No. 3 doubles slot.
Southwest Baptist
Southwest Baptist brings a 5-0 record into its matchup against the Vikings. The Bearcats handed the Vikings their only two losses last season, including Augustana's season ending defeat in the NCAA Central Region 2 Championship.
The Bearcats are paced by Lara Soares and Lani Tuemmers in singles play. Soares is 5-0 at No. 1 singles and Tuemmers is 5-0 at No. 2 singles. The duo is also 5-0 at No. 1 doubles.
Bemidji State
The Beavers enter the weekend with a record of 5-2 (2-2 NSIC) after winning two road NSIC matchups last weekend. Bemidji State defeated St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth in Duluth, Minn. last Sunday.
The Beavers are led by Brooke Mimmack and Ariadna Lopez-Simo. Mimmack is 7-0 primarily play at No. 6 singles and Lopez-Simo is 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
Minnesota Crookston
The Golden Eagles are 0-6 (0-4 NSIC) on the season. Minnesota Crookston will take on Sioux Falls on Saturday before its matchup against the Vikings.
Whitney Erickson has the lone victory for the Golden Eagles on the season.
Augustana Men
The Vikings are 4-1 on the season after their four-match winning streak came to an end against Gustavus Adolphus this past weekend.

Logan Barr. C. Adkins is 3-1 at No. 2 singles and Barr is 3-1 at No. 3 and 4 singles. Barr and
Joe Sawatzke are the top doubles pair for Augustana going 4-0 at No. 2 doubles.
Morningside
The Mustangs own a record of 2-3 on the season after falling to Gustavus Adolphus and Bethel last weekend. Morningside fell to Augustana on Sept. 10 in Sioux City, Iowa, 7-2.
In singles play, the Mustangs are led by Jordan Betts who is 3-2 on the season and picked up Morningside's lone singles win against Augustana in Sept.

Women's tennis will go up against its second Division I opponent on the season hosting Iowa State at the GreatLIFE Woodlake Athletic Club on Saturday, March 4 at 1 p.m.
