BOLIVAR, Mo. - The Augustana University baseball team split Saturday's doubleheader with Truman State in Bolivar, Missouri. The Vikings lost game one 2-1 but picked up the final win of the series, 8-2. With today's split, the Vikings and Bulldogs also split the four-game series.
Game One
There wasn't a lot of scoring in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader. The Vikings got on the scoreboard first with a run in the first frame.
Kris Ashland drove in the Vikings lone run of the game on a single that scored
Riley Johnson. Johnson led off the inning with a single.
The Vikings held the lead through the fifth inning but in the bottom of the sixth the Bulldogs tied the game and took the lead. Truman State's first run came on a passed ball. One batter later the Bulldogs scored on a sac fly to make it 2-1. Augustana got a double from
Ryan Menssen in the top of the seventh but were unable to drive him in, falling 2-1 in game one.

Game Two
For the fourth time in the series, Augustana got on the scoreboard first. The Vikings scored early in the first inning when
Patrick O'Donnell singled and was aided by a throwing error that allowed
Sam Baier and Johnson to score. The error allowed O'Donnell to advance to third. O'Donnell later scored on a groundout by
Alex Beals.
The score remained 3-0 Augustana until the sixth inning when Truman State scored two runs, both on singles.
The Vikings added some insurance runs in the top of the ninth inning.
Lucas Wilber drove in the inning's first run with a double to score
Carter Wevik. With two outs in the inning, Johnson drove in Wilber to make 5-2. The Vikings then powered their way to victory with back-to-back home runs from Baier and O'Donnell to take a commanding 8-2 lead that would also be the final score.
