AXTELL, Neb. – Augustana University women's golf fired a 7-over-par 295 in the second round of the Nebraska-Kearney Spring Invite to jump up one spot and finish first in the 13-team field. The Vikings finished the tournament at 26-over-par 602 (307-295) to finish eight strokes ahead of second-place finisher, Missouri Western State.
Missouri Western State's Shi Qing Ong won individual medalist honors, shooting even-par 144 after finishing 2-under-par in round one and 2-over-par Sunday.
Jordan Bormann tied for second place to lead Augustana. Bormann shot 1-over-par 73 on Sunday to finish the 36-hole tournament at 4-over-par 148 (75-73).
Emily Israelson and
Hannah Hankinson tied for sixth overall at 7-over-par 151. Israelson moved up two spots after shooting 4-over-par 77 on Saturday and 2-over-par 74 in round two. Hankinson moved up eight spots to tie for sixth. Hankinson shot 6-over-par 78 on Saturday before firing a 1-over-par 73 Sunday.
Kali Trautman tied for 10th at 8-over-par 152 (77-75) after finishing the tournament shooting 3-over-par 75 in round two.
Sydney Weber and
McKayla Poppens competed at the UNK Spring Invite as individuals for Augustana. Weber tied for 24th shooting 13-over-par 157 (82-75) while Poppens tied for 30th shooting 16-over-par 160 (80-80).
Sierra Langlie fired identical rounds of 8-over-par 80 to finish tied for 30th at 16-over-par 160.
The team title marks Augustana's fourth of the 2016-17 season, the first during the spring portion.
Augustana returns to action April 10-11 at the West Texas A&M Invite in Tucson, Arizona.
