SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana women's tennis team falls to Iowa State, 4-1, at the GreatLIFE Woodlake Athletic Club in Sioux Falls, S.D. on Saturday afternoon. The Vikings drop to 7-3 (6-0 NSIC) on the season and are 0-2 against Division I competition.
In doubles, Iowa State took a 1-0 lead by sweeping Augustana. The closest match was at No. 2 doubles where the pair of
Meredith Lawrence and
Taylor Jackson were defeated, 6-3, by Margarita Timakova and Annabella Bonadonna.
Kornelia Staniszewska and
Berkley Darr at No. 1 doubles and
Kaitlyn Motley and
Rebecca Falkner at No. 3 doubles fell by 6-1 scores.
In singles, Staniszewska got the Vikings on the board with a straight set victory over Samantha Budai at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-0. The Cyclones won the other three singles matches in straight sets to seal the 4-1 victory.
Next up for the Vikings will be their Spring Trip on March 13-16. The locations and times are to be determined, but Augustana is set to face Slippery Rock (March 13), Belhaven (March 14), George Mason (March 15) and Edinboro (March 16).
