WINONA, Minn. – The Augustana women's tennis team extended its NSIC regular season winning streak to 85 matches on Saturday afternoon by defeating Winona State, 8-1, in Winona, Minn. The Vikings improve to 10-5 (8-0 NSIC) on the season.
The Vikings swept doubles play to start the match off up 3-0.
Kornelia Staniszewska and
Berkley Darr at No. 1 doubles and
Rebecca Falkner and
Kaitlyn Motley at No. 3 doubles won by 8-4 scores.
At No. 2 doubles,
Meredith Lawrence and
Taylor Jackson outlasted Kendra Koppes and Rachel Gantz, 9-8 (7-3) to secure the doubles sweep for Augustana.
In singles play, the Vikings took five of the six singles match to earn an 8-1 win over the Warriors. At No. 1 singles, Staniszewska rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win to move to 11-0 on the season. At No. 2 singles, Jackson notched a 6-1, 6-0 win against Justine Daane.
At No. 3 singles Darr took down Gantz in straight set 6-3, 6-3. Lawrence at No. 5 singles and Falkner at No. 6 sinlges each won their matches by identicl scores of 6-0, 6-1.
The Vikings return to action against Upper Iowa tomorrow, April 2 at 9 a.m. in Winona, Minn. for their final NSIC road matchup of the season.
