SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Jacob Blank set the tone for Augustana baseball on Saturday with the program's eighth no-hitter in program history. Blank's no-hitter led the way for the Vikings 2-0 win in game one and helped set the stage for head coach
Tim Huber's 300th career win in game two over Minnesota Duluth.
Game One
Blank has been dominant all season with a perfect 0.00 ERA and an unblemished 8-0 record. But on Saturday he was unhittable.
The junior from Gretna, Neb. threw Augustana baseball's first no-hitter since April 28, 2013, when Michael Willman Jr. no hit Morningside College and threw the program's eighth no-hitter all-time.
After Blank laughed off a pitch that he soared well over the catcher's head in the first inning, he was locked in. He struck out nine Bulldog hitters and only allowed two walks. His defense behind him also made every play needed to keep the no-hitter in tact. There was a scare to the no-hitter late in the sixth inning but
Patrick O'Donnell made a nice diving grab to keep the Bulldogs hitless.
Augustana's first run of the game came in the second inning when
Zach Reeg hit a home run to left center while their second and final run of the game came in the fifth when
Lucas Barry doubled and later scored on a wild pitch.
