MINNETONKA, Minn. – The No. 1 Augustana women's tennis team made quick work of No. 5 Minnesota State in Minnetonka, Minn. at Lifetime Fitness on Sunday morning. The 5-0 win for the Vikings moved them to 15-5 (11-0 NSIC) on the season and moved their NSIC tournament winning streak to 18 consecutive matches and haven't lost in the NSIC tournament since the 2009-10 season.
The Vikings took care of business in doubles play by sweeping the matches. At No. 3 doubles,
Kaitlyn Motley and
Rebecca Falkner shutout their opponents, 8-0. At No. 2 doubles,
Meredith Lawrence and
Taylor Jackson won 8-2 and at No. 1 doubles
Kornelia Staniszewska and
Berkley Darr won 8-1.
The Vikings wrapped up the match with two singles victories to win the match over the Mavericks, 5-0. Falkner was victories at No. 6 singles for the second consecutive day, 6-2, 6-2. At No. 1 singles Staniszewska improved to 13-0 on the season with a 6-1, 6-0 win.
The Vikings will partake in the NSIC tournament final later today starting at 12 p.m. against the winner of No. 7 St. Cloud State/No. 3 Winona State at Lifetime Fitness in Minnetonka, Minn.
