SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana University women's golf will make its ninth NCAA Championship appearance in program history at the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championship May 17-20, at the Findlay Country Club in Findlay, Ohio. The 2017 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championship is being hosted by the University of Findlay.
Augustana has qualified for the NCAA Championship nine times in the last 10 seasons. Joining Augustana out of the Central Region will be Arkansas Tech and Henderson State. The other nine teams include: Barry University, Dallas Baptist, Grand Valley State, Indianapolis, Lee University, Missouri-St. Louis, Rollins, St. Mary's and West Texas A&M.
Findlay Country Club which will play as a 6,206-yard, par-72 course during the 72-hole championship.
Augustana qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championship after placing second at the Super Region Three Championship at Minnehaha Country Club last week. The Vikings shot 64-over-par 916 (
316-300-300) to place second out of 12 teams, finishing 13 strokes out of first place. Augustana has finished second or better at the region championship eight times in the last 10 years, including three straight seasons.
Emily Israelson and
Hannah Hankinson were recently named to the WGCA All-Central Region team and enter the national championship tournament sharing the team-lead with a 77.1 stroke average on the season.
Hankinson is coming off of a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Super Region Three Championship. She fired a 16-over-par 229 (77-77-75) saving her best round for last shooting 4-over-par 75 in the final round. Hankinson has recorded five top-10 finishes, including three in the top-5 this season.
Israelson, who was named WGCA All-Central Region for the second straight season in 2017, is coming off of a 17th-place finish at the region championship last week. Israelson shot 19-over-par 232 (80-76-76) and enters the NCAA Championship with six top-10 finishes this season, including four in the top-5, in 11 events.
Junior
Sierra Langlie led the Vikings at the region championship last week, placing second out of 66 players, shooting 11-over-par 224. Langlie fired a 7-over-par 78 in the first round before improving to shoot 2-over-par 73 in the final two rounds finishing just three strokes behind the individual champion. Langlie enters the week with a 77.7 stroke average on the season. In 10 events this season, Langlie has six top-10 finishes, including five in the top-5.
Kali Trautman is coming off of a 17th-place finish at the region championship last week. Trautman shot 19-over-par 232 (81-75-76) last week helping the Vikings to a second-place finish. She enters the NCAA Championship with a 78.1 stroke average on the season. Trautman won individual medalist honors at the NSIC Championship on April 23 and has six top-10 finishes in 2016-17.
Senior
Jordan Bormann will be making her last appearance in her career for the Vikings at the national championship tournament. Bormann is making her third straight trip to the NCAA Championship. She placed 58th at the NCAA Championship as a sophomore and 66th as a junior last year. Bormann enters the championship with an 80.3 stroke average on the season with three top-10 finishes, including two in the top-5 and one medalist honor. She placed 32nd at the region championship last week shooting 27-over-par 240 (82-76-82).
Each round of the 2017 NCAA Division II Women's Golf National Championship will get underway with tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. (CT).
