Sioux Falls, S.D. -- Coming off their best finish of the year at the Augustana invitational, the Augustana Men's Golf team will now travel to St. Joseph, Missouri for the Holiday Inn Express Classic, Oct. 8-9th. Hosted by Missouri Western State and played at the St. Joseph Country Club, the course measures 6582 yards featuring six par 3's, five par 5's and seven par 4's.
A week ago, the Vikings finished second in their home invitational Sept. 29-30. Augustana went into day two tied for second place (304) with St. Cloud State, and the Vikings shot a solid final-round 295 (+9) to finish in second place.
Individually, the Vikings were led by
Jacob Lee, who finished at 3-over par in 4th place. Lee carded a final-round 69 (-3), which allowed him to move up nine spots on the final day. Two spots behind him, Senior
Carter Kranz shot a two-day 149 (74/75) to finish tied for 6th place at 5-over.
Other strong finishers for the Vikings included
Sam Sutcliffe who finished (T13) shooting a 151 5-over. Augustana's
Alex Stanz finished (T16) with a nine-over 153.
Cole Crawford finished (T22) with a 156.
Men's Coach
Danny Sinksen hopes the Vikings can build off their showing in their home invitational and translate that success  into this week's invite. "After last week's success at our home tournament it will be good for us to continue to grow and learn at the big regional preview," said Sinksen, "Our upperclassmen have played here several times and will know the course.  If we can hit our long irons well we will put ourselves into a good spot."
This is the last event of the fall for Augustana Men's Golf. In the spring the Vikings will begin NSIC play where they finished sixth last year.
