Women's Basketball Hosts Waldorf Tuesday

The Vikings and Warriors face off for the first time in program history

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Following a 6-1 start to the season and a recent road trip to Puerto Rico, the Augustana women's basketball team now returns home to hit the hardwood for a non-conference matchup vs. Waldorf (IA), Tuesday, Nov. 27th at 7 p.m. inside the Elmen Center. Through seven games, the Vikings come in averaging nearly 80 points per game (2nd/NSIC) while holding their opponents to just 56.6 points per game. With a +21 average margin of victory, the Vikings sit third in the conference in scoring margin.

The story of Augustana season so far is the Vikings stout defense. The Vikings have limited the opposition under 35 percent shooting while forcing more than 15 turnovers per game. The Vikings 5.5 blocks per game lead the league.

Most recently, the  Vikings are coming off of an 81-61 win over UPR Bayamon (Puerto Rico) where three student-athletes paved the way for the Vikings victory. Lynsey Prosser finished the game with a double-double performance. The 5-7 senior guard snagged 13 rebounds and 19 points, going 8 of 17 from the field. Behind Prosser's double-double was Abby Hora with 16 points.Hana Metoxen also scored a career-high 14 points in 21 minutes of action. The junior went 4 of 9 from three-point land and a perfect 2 of 2 from the charity stripe.

The Vikings wrapped up the Puerto Rico Classic going 2-1 overall.

Augustana comes into Tuesday's matchup vs. Waldorf sitting 0-0 all-time against the Warriors.

Scouting Waldorf:
Waldorf (IA) comes into this non-conference game sitting at 2-4 on the season. The Warriors are led by fifth-year coach Katie Schujter who has accumulated a record of 16-102.

The Warriors are averaging 67.33 points per contest. The Warriors rank among the best in NAIA DII with 3.5 blocks per game (24th) and sit 34th in free throw percentage (71.2 percent).

The Warriors are led by Taylor Fricke who is averaging 13.5 points per game coming into Tuesday's non-conference matchup. The senior from Gilman, Iowa. has gone 31-72 from the field in six games, and has snagged 30 rebounds (5 RPG) which puts her among the best in NAIA DII.

The Vikings and Warriors are set to tip-off at the Elmen Center jump circle at 7 p.m.
