SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Augustana men's golf team will look start off their 2018-2019 season strong on Monday as they tee off in the Central Missouri Invitational in Warrensburg, MO. The 19 team tournament gets going at 10 a.m. at the Par-70 Mules National Golf Club.
The Vikings are coming off a solid team and individual's season, including a 6th place finish at the NSIC championship last spring. This fall, the Vikings will return two upperclassmen in
Cole Crawford (junior) and
Carter Kranz (senior), and also bring in a strong recruiting class, including NSIC men's golf preseason player to watch in freshman Jake Lee (Parkston, S.D.).
With six new freshmen overall, 4th-year Vikings head coach
Danny Sinksen is set to start a new era in Augustana men's golf. "It's going to be a great year," Sinksen said. "We have a fun new team, a strong recruiting class, and with an under-the-radar roster, we have a great opportunity to really surprise some teams in our league."
Last year, the Viking's best finish as a team was 4th. They shot a 27-over at the St. Cloud invite in early October, including two players finishing in the top-10. Five golfers will tee off on Monday at the Central Missouri invite, with four scores being carded officially. Live stats for Monday's season opener can be followed
