Augustana Track & Field Travels Back to Mankato This Weekend

Vikings set to compete in Mark Schuck Multi & Open

Sioux Falls, S.D. -- After an encouraging weekend of competition at the SDSU DII Invitational, the Augustana track & field team will travel to Mankato, Minn. to compete in the Mark Schuck Multi & Open on Friday and Saturday. Friday's events will begin at 3:00 pm, while Saturday competition will commence at 10:00 am at Myers Field House in Mankato.

At the SDSU DII Invitational, the Vikings were able to take third place on the women's side with 148.5 points, while the men placed seventh with 38.5 points. Augustana student-athletes achieved 13 personal best marks at the meet, with two individuals winning their respective events.

The Viking women were highlighted in field events by junior Olivia Montez Brown winning the long jump and sophomore Callie DeWitt finishing second. Augustana also had a trio of fourth place finishes in the pole vault (Lily Noble), triple jump (Kaly Banks), and high jump (Kendra Ludeman).

Montez Brown would continue to impress in running events with a second place finish in the 60m hurdles. In middle-distance, Carly Rahn posted a personal best while finishing second in the 600m run. The 4x400m team of Sydney Mudgett, Montez Brown, Kali Ryan, and Ashley Solano placed second as well, with a season-best time.

The men's side of competition at the SDSU DII Invitational showed eight personal bests, with one individual event winner. Josh Barrows was able to claim a victory in the 800m while also posting a season-best time. In field events, Matt Pohlmann achieved a personal best in the pole vault in a third-place finish, while Tyl Woelber picked up a second place finish in the high jump.

In the men's running events, senior Paul Meloche took third place in the 60m hurdles while the 4x400m relay team of Ryan Sully, Meloche, Beau Ireland, and Nick Reiffenberger placed third with a season-best time.

Including this coming weekend, the Vikings now make two consecutive trips to Mankato, as they will compete in the Ted Nelson Classic on February 2.
