SIOUX FALLS, S.D — The Augustana swim team will hit the road to take on Northern State on Friday in Aberdeen, South Dakota, and then compete in the Midwest Shootout on Saturday in Omaha, Nebraska. 

The Wolves
Northern State swimming finished 1-8 overall and 0-6 in the NSIC a season ago. The Wolves finished seventh as a team at the NSIC Championships, earning 210 total points. The Wolves return 11 swimmers from last season, with 11 incoming freshmen and transfers. 

Midwest Shootout
Nebraska-Omaha hosts the Midwest Shootout on Saturday at 10 a.m. There will be eight schools competing at the shootout along with one other school from the NSIC in Sioux Falls. 

The Vikings
The Augustana swim team opened up its season at UMary on Friday and Saturday. The Vikings came away 2-1 on the weekend with wins over UMary and Northern State. NSIC Player to Watch Taylor Beagle took home first place in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:53.29.

Kelsey Gilbert and Emma Miller finished one and two in the 1000-yard freestyle with times of 10:56.82 and 10:57.36. Destini Oehlertz took home second place after a 24.80 time in the 50-yard freestyle.

One Last Thing
The Vikings welcome in their first senior class this season in their fourth season of competition. Seven swimmers will be the first Viking swimmers to swim four full seasons as members of the swim team.
