CORAL SPRINGS, Florida -- The Augustana women's golf team earned a spot in the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Coaches Poll Friday. After taking home both the team and individual championship at the DII National Preview the Vikings checked in at No. 23 in the third edition of the poll.
This marks the first time the Vikings have entered the top-25 this season. Additionally, the Vikings were the only NSIC team ranked in poll.
At the DII National Preview, the Vikings outshout six opponents ranked in the WGCA Top-25 en route to finishing at a final score of 915.
Alex Stone shot a three-round score of 217 to take home the top honor. For her performance, the junior earned her second NSIC Golfer of the Week honor.
The Vikings took home four team titles in the six events they competed in during the fall season.
"It is very exciting to be ranked 23rd in Division II," head coach Peggy Kirby said. "There are some great teams above us and it gives us a great incentive to work harder in the offseason. Our win at the NCAA DII Preview was an awesome finish to our fall season. It's been a few years since we've had a team in the top-25, so I am very proud of these student-athletes!"
