Augie Swim Hosts The Augustana Invitational

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Augustana swimming team will host the Augustana Invitational Thursday-Saturday at the Midco Aquatic Center. All three days will have two sessions starting at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The Invite
The Vikings play host inside the Midco Aquatic Center this weekend as eight teams will compete. The opponents consist of two Division I schools, two NSIC schools and two junior colleges along with College of St. Mary (Omaha).

The Opponents
South Dakota State, South Dakota, UMary, Sioux Falls, Augie, Iowa Central, Iowa Lakes and College of St. Mary (Omaha).

The Vikings
Augustana is coming off a loss to Minnesota State 166-1112 last Thursday in Mankato, Minnesota. Destini Oehlertz led the way for the Vikings taking top honors in the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle. Emma Miller also earned top honors in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:15.38 while taking home silver with a time of 25.80 in the 50-yard freestyle.

Taylor Beagle earned first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:16.94 and Hannah Lambert placed third with a time of 5:26.90. Ruth Huffman placed second in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:19.54 while Micah Hudlet finished right behind her with a time of 2:20.21. Four Vikings placed in the top-five of the 50-yard Butterfly.

One Last Thing
The Vikings will compete only two more times in 2020 before heading to Bismarck, North Dakota, to compete in the NSIC Championships Feb. 12-15. Augustana will also host Southwest Minnesota State on Jan. 11 at 3 p.m. inside the Elmen Center Swimming Pool.
