BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- Augustana's Olivia Montez Brown and Tyl Woelber have been named the NSIC Preseason Field Athletes of the Year while both the men's and women's programs have been tabbed third in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll announced Thursday afternoon.

Montez Brown, a senior, is coming off a national championship last season while Woelber, a sophomore, picked up from a strong freshman campaign in the indoor season to earn Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year honors.

Last season, the women placed third in the NSIC while the men finished fifth. The women went on to place 21st nationally behind Montez Brown's National Championship in the indoor pentathlon.

This season, the women have added eight freshmen while returning 37, including five seniors. The men have added 12 freshmen to their roster while returning 26, 11 of which are seniors.

The NSIC also tabbed juniors Callie DeWitt and Austin Miller as the preseason track athletes to watch.

DeWitt earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors in the 60m during the 2018-19 season and was named the NSIC Indoor Track Athlete of the Week on Feb. 18 for her first-place finish in the 60m at the SDSU Last Chance. Her season-best 60m time was 7.59 at the NSIC Indoor Championships where she earned second place.

Miller redshirted during the 2018-19 season. As a freshman in 2017, Miller took fourth-place at the NSIC Indoor Championships in the 600m with a personal best time of 1:22.71. He also took fourth that season at the SDSU Last Chance in the 400m with a personal best time of 51:40.

Montez Brown had a banner year in 2018-19 as she captured the National Championship in the pentathlon with a school-record 3,915 points. She garnered first-team All-America honors and was named the NSIC Indoor Field Athlete of the Year. In addition to winning the pentathlon at nationals, Montez Brown also won the pentathlon at the NSIC Indoor Championships with 3,712 points.

Woelber had a breakout freshman campaign in 2018-19 as he finished in fourth place in the heptathlon at the NSIC Indoor Championships with 4,917 points. He ran a season-best 60m at the SDSU Holiday Invite (7.44) and a season-best 1000m (2:52.74) at the NSIC Indoor Championships.
