Viking Women go 2-0 in Bismarck

Vikings defeat MSU Moorhead 7-0

BOX SCORE BISMARCK, N.D. -- Fresh off winning their 100th straight conference match, the Augustana women's tennis team made it 101 straight conference matches defeating MSU Moorhead 7-0 Sunday morning.

The Viking women swept singles and doubles action against the Dragons. Starting in doubles play, senior Kornelia Staniszewska teamed up with freshman Laura Arce Vieyra for their third win of the season defeating Julie Geske and Olivia Keelin 6-1.

Taylor Jackson and Anca Rusu teamed up to take down Rachel Nguyen and Lorissa Yuen, 6-3 and Grace Goble and Annika Teske defeated Emma Wood and Alexis Konecne 6-3 to finish up doubles actionfor the Vikings.

In singles play, Staniszewska continued to dominate on the court defeating Geske 6-1, 6-1 in No. 1 singles while Arce Vieyra took down Yuen in similar fashion 6-2, 6-2. In No. 3 singles Jackson struggled at the start but eventually would go on to dominate Rachel Nguyen 6-4, 6-0.

Finishing up the weekend's play was Goble, Rusu and Teske. Goble went on to defeat Konecne 6-3, 6-3, Rusu faced off against Keelin in a competitive 6-4, 6-4 win and Teske would go on to grab her fourth singles win with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Kornblum.

Redshirt-sophomore Rebecca Falkner had a dominant performance in an exhibition singles match on Sunday. The Overland Park, Kan. native, took down Stevi Parker 6-0, 6-0.

The women travel to Bemidji, Minn. to take on Minnesota Crookston at 9 a.m. and Bemidji State at 1 p.m. with both matches on Sunday, Feb. 17.
