SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Augustana men's and women's track teams head to the NSIC Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday and Saturday to begin their 2018-19 postseason. Friday's events begin at 9:20 a.m., while Saturday's events commence at 8:50 a.m.
The Vikings return to action after last weekend's SDSU Last Chance in Brookings, S.D. A group of Augustana athletes also traveled to Mankato, Minn. for the Maverick Invite. Â
At the Maverick Invite, the women's Distance Medley Relay of Carly Rahn, Olivia Montez Brown, Kali Ryan, and Mackenzie Kelly put up a provisional qualifying time and placed second in the event. Josh Barrows took first place in the 800m with a provisional qualifying mark.
At the SDSU Last Chance, the Viking men were highlighted by a first-place finish in the 60m Hurdles by
Paul Meloche. Meloche earned NSIC Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for his efforts.
Personal bests were achieved by
Tyl Woelber and
Justin Kooiman in the 60m Hurdles, while
Ryan Sully and
Josh Schumacher achieved personal bests in the 400m.
Evan Johnson and
Endre Wigaard took the top two spots in the 1000m while also reaching personal best times.
For the Augustana women who competed in Brookings,
Selin Dikmen earned her first collegiate victory in the 60m Hurdles.
Kendra Ludeman tied her personal best in the high jump.
Callie DeWitt finished the 60m Dash with a provisional qualifier and season-best time and earned NSIC Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Amanda Peterson finished first in the 3000m, while freshman
Haylee Waterfall took home a win in the 800m.
Following this weekend, Augustana will prepare for the NCAA Indoor Championships over the next couple of weeks before the event begins on March 8.
