SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Augustana men's and women's track teams will hit the road over the weekend to compete in the SDSU Indoor Classic in Brookings, S.D. on Friday and Saturday. Friday's events begin at 2:00 p.m., while Saturday's events commence at 9:00 a.m.
The Vikings hit the track after last weekend's Ted Nelson Classic in Mankato, Minn. Augustana's women placed second with 150 points, as the men placed sixth with 33 points.
The men were highlighted during last weekend's meet by
Aaron Runge in the 3,000m who took third place with a personal-best time of 8:36.60. Augustana's 4x400m relay team of
Alex Woods,
Josh Barrows,
Blake Savey, and
Ryan Sully placed third as well, posting a time of 3:22.19. A bright spot in the field events was
Eli Anderson, who grabbed fourth place in the high jump at 1.94m (6 foot 4.25 inches).
Augustana's women were able to win five events last weekend in their runner-up finish.
Olivia Montez Brown won a pair of events thanks to season-best marks in both the Long Jump with a distance of 5.72m (18 foot 9.25 inches) and the 60m Hurdles with a time of 8.66 seconds.
Carly Rahn placed first in the Mile with a time of 5:10.89, while
Emily Tromp took the victory in the 1,000m at 3:03.77.
Mackenzie Kelly provided the Vikings with their fifth win in the 3,000m at 10:13.50.
Following this weekend, Augustana will return to Brookings on February 15 for the SDSU Last Chance Meet, for an opportunity to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships in March.
