Augustana Men Split a Pair in North Dakota

Vikings are back in action next weekend at home

| BOX SCORE 2 GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The Augustana men's tennis team split a pair of matches in North Dakota on Friday afternoon. The Vikings defeated Concordia-Moorhead 5-2 and then fell to North Dakota 6-1 to finish the day at the Choice Health & Fitness Center in Grand Forks, N.D.

The Vikings move to 7-10 after Friday's pair of matches. Concordia-Moorhead falls to 5-10 with the loss while North Dakota moves to 10-7.

Against Concordia-Moorhead the Vikings ended a two game losing skid with a 5-2 win over the Cobbers. Augustana won the doubles point as well as four singles matches in the win.

In doubles action, Logan Barr and Frank Kelly defeated Ben Swanson and Carter Steffes 6-4 and Austin VanDerWeide and North Knewtson defeated Christian Larson and Grant Storm 6-1.

Over in singles play, Barr defeated Erik Porter 6-3, 6-3 in No. 1 Singles action, Eden Mrozek took down Steffes with a score of 6-1, 6-1 and Knewtson defeated Jake Peters by a score of 6-0, 6-2. Rounding out singles action for the Vikings against the Cobbers was Kelly in No. 6 Singles action, the junior took down Larson 6-1, 6-1.

Finishing out the day, Augustana took on North Dakota looking for back-to-back wins on the day but would fall 6-1 to the Fighting Hawks. The Vikings picked up one doubles win and one singles win in the loss.

Knewtson picked up a win in No. 4 Singles against Ben Yeacker 2-6, 6-3, 10-8 and also picked up a doubles win against Alex Reinke and Hunter Terrell 6-2 while teamed up with VanDerWeide.

Up Next
The Vikings return home to host Concordia (Neb.) on April 6 at 2 p.m. and then will finish the season against Northwest Missouri on April 17 at 3 p.m.
