BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- For the second time this season, Augustana women's tennis student-athlete
Kornelia Staniszewska, a senior from Opalenie, Poland, has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Athlete of the Week.
It's the 11th time Staniszewska has earned Athlete of the Week honors and third of the season for the Vikings.
The three-time NSIC Player of the Year finished the weekend 3-0 in both No. 1 Singles and No. 1 Doubles action. She extended her regular-season win streak to 27 matches with wins over Chloe Jefferies 6-3, 6-1 (USF), Megan Anderson 6-0, 6-0 (UMD) and Fernanda Morais 6-0, 6-0 (SCSU).
In doubles play, Staniszewska teamed up with Laura Arce Vieyra to pick up three wins throughout the weekend. The duo defeated Jefferies and Megan Quandt 6-0 (USF), Anderson and Elsa Erickson 6-2 (UMD) and Morais and Jill Kedrowski 6-1 (SCSU).
As a team, Augustana (11-0, 9-0 NSIC) swept the weekend play 7-0 Sioux Falls, 4-0 over Minnesota Duluth and 6-1 over St. Cloud State. The Vikings are currently ranked No. 5 in the ITA Central Region rankings.
Augustana has won 108 straight NSIC matches dating back to the 2009 season and will travel to Florida next week, March 11-13 to play at the USTA National Campus.
