SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Following national recognition from the NFCA and NCAA, the Division II Conference Commissioners Association has also awarded three Augustana softball student-athletes All-America honors. Maggie Kadrlik (utility) and Ashley Mickschl (utility-pitcher) both earned first team honors, and for the first time her career, Shannon Petersen is an All-American (catcher, honorable mention).

Behind a stellar senior season, Petersen becomes the 42nd All-American in Viking softball history. The Edina, Minnesota native launched 13 home runs and drove in a career-high 65 runs this season. Playing in 65 games this season, Petersen hit .371 from the plate while slugging .660 with a team-high 18 doubles. Petersen has just five errors all season and an outstanding .981 fielding percentage. Now with 57 home runs in her four-year career, Petersen will leave Augustana second all-time in career home runs.

For the first time in her career, Kadrlik earns first-team D2CCA All-America honors. A native of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, Kadrlik is third in the nation with 68 RBI, seventh in home runs with 17, and 10th in the nation with a .856 slugging percentage. Kadrlik is also hitting .439 with a.502 on-base percentage. Starting a majority of her games at catcher, Kadrlik has 223 putouts against just four errors and a .984 fielding percentage. Kadrlik was named a D2CCA honorable mention All-American in 2016.

A two-time NFCA All-American, Mickschl collects the third national honor of her career. Both a pitcher and utility player, Mickschl numbers from inside the circle also stand out among the nations best. In 36 starts, Mickschl went 27-5 with a 1.82 ERA. The sophomore has racked up 179 strikeouts while twirling 20 complete games and six shutouts. The Woodbury, Minnesota native has also played in 64 games, hitting .317 with 48 RBI, 12 doubles, four home runs, and a team-high four triples.

Augustana (56-10) earned the No. 3 seed at the NCAA DII National Championship, and opens play on Thursday at 7:30 (CT) vs. No. 6 seed the University of California, San Diego. The eight-team double-elimination tournament takes place May 23-27 at the Regency Athletic Complex on the campus of Metropolitan State University of Denver.

Kylee Smith of North Georgia was named the D2CCA Ron Lenz Pitcher of the Year, and Christa Reisinger of Truman State is the Ron Lenz Player of the Year.
