Summer Spotlight: Alexis Legg

The second installment of the Summer Soccer Spotlight focuses on Alexis Legg’s WPSL season

7/24/2019 2:00:00 PM

As the 2019 soccer season approaches, GoAugie.com spoke with five Vikings who spent their summers with internships and the WPSL around the area. This five-part series will run once a week for four weeks leading up to the team's report date of Sunday, August 18th.
Sophomore Alexis Legg enjoyed a breakout freshman campaign where she was awarded Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Freshman of the Year and received NSIC All-Conference Third Team honors. She appeared in all 20 games for the Vikings and led the team in points, goals, and game winning goals. Her 21 points were good for seventh in the conference. Eager to get back on the soccer pitch for Augustana's Fall season, Alexis decided to compete in the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) this summer. Take a look at how the summer is going for her.

How has the WPSL season gone so far?
Good. We are 7-1-1 and are currently sitting at the top of the WPSL Heartland Conference. If we win this Saturday we will win the conference in our first year of league play.

What are some of the challenges with being on the team?
Traveling once or twice a week for two hours gets pretty tiring.

What do you do for fun in your spare time this summer?
Go to the lake.

What are you most excited about for this fall?
Fall season was my favorite part of the year, during my freshman year, so I'm just really excited to get back to playing with my teammates!

Part three of the series will feature Grace Bender on Wed., July 31.
