BURNSVILLE, Minn. – The Augustana women's tennis team is picked to repeat as the NSIC Champion for the 11^th-straight year the conference announced Thursday. In addition, sophomore Laura Arce Vieyra is named the NSIC Preseason Player of the Year.
 
Augustana, who has won 110-straight NSIC duals, is the unanimous favorite (coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team) with 11 first place votes and 121 points. The Vikings are coming off an 11-0 campaign in the 2019 NSIC season and went 19-3 overall while making an appearance in the NCAA Central Region Tournament.
 
Arce Vieyra, the 2019 NSIC Freshman of the Year, earned preseason player of the year accolades after recording a 16-1 mark in singles action and a perfect 9-0 record in NSIC play. The native of Mexico City, Mexico, teamed with Kornelia Staniszewska last year for a 20-0 record in doubles play. The duo ended the regular season ranked No. 15 in the nation for doubles.
 
The Vikings begin the spring portion of their schedule with a trio of matches in St. Joseph, Missouri, beginning Friday. Augustana first faces Missouri Western State on Friday followed by Arkansas Tech on Saturday and Newman on Sunday. The first NSIC action for Augustana is Saturday, Feb. 8, as the Vikings host Minnesota Crookston at GreatLIFE Woodlake Athletic Club.
