SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Augustana men's golf team had two student-athletes sign their National Letters of Intent to continue their athletic and academic careers at Augustana, head coach Danny Sinksen announced Wednesday.
Zachary Stanz | Clear Lake, Minnesota | Becker High School
Sinksen on Stanz: "Zach is a recruit we have been looking at for quite some time as his brother Alex is currently a junior on the team. He's been golfing his whole life and we know he will bring a strong work ethic and consistency to the team. It's always nice to see a family connection on the team and he already has a great camaraderie with our players!"
High School: Stanz will graduate from Becker High School in May of 2021. As a sophomore, Stanz averaged 80.5 strokes per round and garnered All-Conference honors. During his freshman campaign, he was also named All-Conference and had a scoring average of 77.5 strokes per round.
Personal: Stanz was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota, to parents Chris and David Stanz. He has one sibling, fellow Augustana golfer
Alex Stanz, and plans to major in biology while at Augustana.
Andrew Determan | Sioux City, Iowa | Bishop Heelan Catholic High School
Sinksen on Determan: "Drew brings a lot of tournament experience to the team. Coming from a golfing family, he will bring great knowledge and depth to the program. We are also excited to bring a recruit in from the Iowa area to add to our base and continue our growth"
High School: Determan will graduate from Bishop Heelan Catholic High School in May of 2021. During his senior campaign, Determan took home third-place at his conference meet along with two other second-place finishes. As a junior, he garnered all-conference honors after finishing second individually within the conference.
Personal: Determan was born in Sioux City, Iowa, to parents Liz and Jon Determan. He has two siblings and plans to major in political science and minor in history while at Augustana.
