SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Augustana head men's tennis coach Marc Kurtz announced the addition of Joseph Plachy to the 2021 signing class on Wednesday. The Lincoln, Nebraska native played No. 1 singles at Pius X High School.

"We are really excited to have Joseph join our team next fall," head coach Marc Kurtz said. "Joseph is a very strong and dedicated student-athlete who excels in the classroom and on the tennis court. He will have an immediate impact on our roster and we are thrilled that he chose to attend Augustana."  

In his senior year at Pius X High School, Plachy had a record of 18-6 placing sixth at No. 1 singles at the Nebraska state meet and second at No. 1 singles at the conference tournament. In his junior year he was named Second-Team All State and All City Team. 

Plachy plans to major in chemistry while at Augustana.
