SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Augustana swimming head coach Lindsie Micko announced Friday the signing of nine Vikings for the incoming freshmen class of 2021. The class includes Skylar Anderson, Elsie Anselment, Libby Breckon, Leona Coha, Erin Danielewicz, Lara Matuck, Abby Nelson, Anna Schmidt, and Amaya Street.
"I am very excited to announce our Class of 2021 signings," Micko said. "This class is deep, will be very competitive within our conference and help us to continue to grow as a program.Â
"All of these young ladies fit what we are looking for in a student-athlete. They are smart and have ambitious goals both academically and athletically. I'm proud that they chose to attend Augustana and excited to see what the future holds."
Skylar Anderson | Diving | Aurora, Colorado | George Washington High SchoolÂ
In her junior season, Anderson placed fourth at both the league qualifier and the Colorado State Meet. Her high score on 1 meter is 235. Anderson is Augustana's first diving signee.Â
Anderson plans to major in biology and minor in French while at Augustana.
Elsie Anselment | Freestyle | Big Lake, Minnesota | Monticello High School
In her junior season, Anselment placed 13th at the state meet in the 500-yard freestyle. She also placed second in the 500-yard freestyle and fifth in the 200-yard freestyle at the sectional meet, helping Monticello to a second-place finish.Â
Anselment plans to major in biology while at Augustana.Â
Libby Breckon | Freestyle/Backstroke/IM | Boise, Idaho | Centennial High SchoolÂ
Breckon claimed the school record in the 50-yard freestyle her senior season and was named the Idaho Swimmer of the Week. In her junior season, she placed third in the 100-yard freestyle and fourth in the 50-yard freestyle at the state meet, helping her team place third overall.Â
Breckon plans to major in nursing while at Augustana.
Leona Coha | Freestyle | Zagreb, Croatia | XV. gimnazija Zagreb
Coha is 627th in the 2021 rankings for Swimcloud. She holds a personal best of 1:01.57 in the 100-yard freestyle, 2:09.54 in the 200-yard freestyle, and 5:00.85 in the 400-yard IM.Â
Coha plans to major in mathematics while at Augustana.Â
Erin Danielewicz | Freestyle/Butterfly | Mount Prospect, Illinois | Prospect High School
In her junior season, Danielewicz placed third in the 100-yard butterfly and sixth in the 50-yard freestyle at the sectional meet. She also was a part of the 400-freestyle relay and 200-freestyle relay that both placed fourth.Â
Danielewicz plans to major in secondary education and chemistry while at Augustana.Â
Lara Matuck | Breaststroke/IM | São Paulo, Brazil | Colégio ítaca
Matuck holds personal bests of 1:06.29 in the 100-yard breaststroke, 2:24.19 in the 200-yard breaststroke and 4:43.13 in the 400 IM.Â
Matuck plans to major in biology and minor in data science while at Augustana.
Abby Nelson | Freestyle/Backstroke | Monument, Colorado | Palmer Ridge High School
In her junior season, Nelson qualified in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle as well as being part of the state finals in the 200-freestyle relay and 400-freestyle relay.
Nelson plans to major in exercise science while at Augustana.
Anna Schmidt | Freestyle/Butterfly | Aberdeen, South Dakota | Roncalli High SchoolÂ
In her junior season, Schmidt placed first in the 1650-yard freestyle and the 200-yard butterfly at the state meet. She also placed second in the 100-yard butterfly, 50-yard freestyle and 200-yard breaststroke. While also placed third in both the 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard IM, helping her team place third at the state meet.Â
Schmidt plans to major in biology while at Augustana.Â
Amaya Street | Freestyle/Breaststroke/IM | Milbank, South Dakota | Milbank High School
In her junior season, Street was awarded the Complete Swimmer Award. She placed second in the 100-yard freestyle, fourth in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke, fifth in the 50-yard freestyle, sixth in the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard IM, and seventh in the 400-yard IM at the South Dakota State Meet.Â
Street plans to major in biochemistry with a minor in spanish while at Augustana.Â
