AUSTIN, Texas -- Viking track and field student-athletes Olivia Montez Brown and Tiegen Lindner have been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Division II Track and Field/Cross Country Teams announced Wednesday morning.

Despite the cancellation of spring competition during COVID-19, CoSIDA continued its sponsorship of the Academic All-America awards program. Student-athletes were selected based on career statistics.

Senior Olivia Montez Brown earned second-team honors with a 3.63 GPA while majoring in physical education. She becomes the fourth CoSIDA Academic All-America honoree in program history and the first since Leah Seivert in 2016. The senior was set to defend her 2019 Indoor Pentathlon National Championship, before the COVID-19 pandemic cancelled competition.

Montez Brown earned USTFCCCA All-America honors in the pentathlon and 60-meter hurdles this season while qualifying for nationals in both events. She had the seventh-best pentathlon score in the country (3,682 points) and the 13th-fastest 60 meter hurdles time (8.63) as well.

Lindner, a senior, took home third-team honors with a 3.98 GPA while majoring in exercise science. He becomes the fifth CoSIDA Academic All-America honoree in program history with Josh Barrows garnering the award in 2017 and 2019.

Lindner earned All-NSIC honors on the distance medley relay team that placed second at the NSIC Championships with a time of 10:05.87. He also recorded personal bests this season in the 800-meter run at the NSIC Indoor Challenge on Feb. 15 with a time of 1:56.03 (second-place), 1,000m at the Bison Open on Feb. 8 with a time of 2:31.31 (third-place) and 600m at the SDSU DII Invitational on Jan. 24 with a time of 1:24.33.

Augustana athletics concludes the 2019-20 academic year with eight CoSIDA Academic All-America selections and 13 All-District honorees.
