Seven Women’s Golfers Honored with WGCA All-American Scholar Award

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars were announced Monday with a total of 1,401 women's collegiate golfers recognized with this prestigious honor. Among those golfers, Augustana had seven student-athletes make the All-American Team in Alex Stone, Annemarie Fisher, McKayla Poppens, Molly Stevens, Natalie Young, Sydney Weber, and Hannah Hankinson. Hankinson, also recently achieved CoSIDA Division II Academic All-America status. 

The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.

Hankinson, the Preseason NSIC Golfer of the Year, earned an NSIC Player of the Week award and had a two-round score of 148 (+4) to place first at the Tracy Lane Memorial. Fisher Played thirteen rounds over six events and had an average of 86.3 on the season.

Stone was a two-time NSIC Player of the Week and earned first at the Golden Bear Classic as well as the Ramada Mustang Invite. Poppens tied for fourth at the Augustana invite with a two round score of 156. 

Stevens played ten rounds over five events, shooting an average of 78.9. Young finished third at the DII Preview and shot a three-round score of 223. Weber played ten rounds over five events with an average of 86.1.

The Women's Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the WGCA represents over 600 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
