TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Augustana men's and women's tennis teams, along with 11 student-athletes, were awarded ITA All-Academic honors the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced Tuesday.
Individually, five men and six women represented the Vikings as ITA Scholar-Athletes. In order to qualify for the ITA Scholar-Athletes honor one must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year. 593 men from 95 different tennis programs were honored along with 762 women from 129 different tennis programs.
Both the men's and women's teams earned the All-Academic Team honor. To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale). The men's team came in with a 3.61 GPA and were one of 95 programs honored while the women finished with a 3.76 GPA being one of 129 programs honored.
